Cruise night at California's in Mississauga

I heard through the grapevine that the cruise night at California's restaurant in Mississauga is on it's way out. It's last year will be this season, so after 27 seasons (i think) of Thursday night cruises it will be done. I'm very sad as this is the first cruise that i ever brought my Comet to, even before the car shows and i have brought all of my 4 children to this cruise too. Sucks really.

I go to the car shows there on Wed nights and TD is building a new bank in the middle of the parking lot right in front of Californias so it killed the car shows this year as there was very little parking to begin with.  I was there last wed night and there was only about 35-40 cars when there is normally over 100 on a regular night and 300+ on a good night. 
I overheard some of the classic car guys bitching their cars were getting all dusty and dirty from the construction going on and that they were not coming back.

However this means that the Sat night shows at Queensway and 427 have been much busier this year.

Is that the one that the parking lot backs on to the highway? If so I remember going to that on back in the day. A lot of fast street cars used to go there.
Seen a few good races come out of there.

That's the one, N.Service road between Dixie and Mavis and you can see it from the QEW.  In years past it has been a nice mix of Bikes, newer collector cars ( like Vipers, Turbo Mustangs, Corvettes ), then a great mix of cars and vans from pre WW1 right up to the 80's.   I thought it was great to see a car from the 30's next to a Viper.  End of the night though people would line the streets to watch the burnouts.  I know some people were not too happy with uncorked exhaust and massive burnouts at 10pm in a residential neighborhood and the last few years the police presence had to be stepped up.

You do have a point there, the Sat cruise night in Etobicoke sure brings 'em in. It's a great show too.

Well, this Wednesday i'm headed to California's cruise for the last time sadly, that is if the weather is good. I'll do the usual, park the old Comet, get some ice cream and look at the classic cars. Now no one has said this is the last few cruise nights there, but i'm assuming that at the end of this cruise season this will be it for this location with all the new changes in the parking lot.

Well i didn't make it to California's for that one last trip down memory lane as i had to fix the gas line on my Grand Am, plus the weather looked like it was going to rain. Anyone notice that the summer button seems to have been turned off instantly overnight?
 
I'll try to get to California's next Wednesday if the weather holds out.

I'll keep an eye out for the Comet if I make it out.  Softball is done so I get my Mon Wed Thu back again  LOL

1st Exit is Dixie / N Service Road ( the right lane is Dixie road, stay to the left to keep on N Service )

Damn i still have not made it out to California's yet, always something getting in the way or coming up.

And yep it naturally rains tonight, next Wednesday is the last cruise for the year.  I'm gonna take a round out of Mother nature.

O.K. this Wednesday i will be going to California's as it is not suppose to rain. There are only two nights left for the season.

Yeah i have thought that a few times too when i park in downtown Toronto.
