I have a question, i heard on the news and i hope i misunderstood that all cars under seven years old as of Sept 1st will have to do the bullshit emissions tax unless they have historic plates on them. Does that mean i can't use my custom plates just so to avoid the emissions tax. If this is the case than how will they test a '57 Chevy or a model A Ford or a ............. blah blah blah.  I hope i misunderstood.

are you sure you don't mean OVER 7 years? i think i caught a bit of that on CH yesterday and from the story i heard, if its the same one, all cars 7 years old or NEWER won't have to be emission tested because the technology in the cars lately. also something about being able to switch the car through family members without getting an emission test as well. is that what you're referring to? i'm 99% sure they won't be testing anything pre-87 still (i think that's what they capped it at i'm not sure, R/T kota should know). i'm thinking AND hoping you're mistaken (no offense meant) since a car has to be 20 years old for historic plates anyways...so if what you heard is true a car 8 years old would be able to get historic plates. if that's what the news said than they're morons haha, i won't be surprised if they botched the story.

this story might help;

Talking with Matt at the shop about safety and e test for my grand marquis and he said soon they will be not e testing any obd2 cars that do not have the check engine light on. He wasn't sure if there was going to be a year cap on that or if it was going to be all obd2 cars.
The liberals and Mcguinty love the idea of a carbon tax so I wont be surprised if they bring that in on all the older cars.
