Diesel drags done

The DRO offices got a call this morning from Eric McBride, the Diesel Hot Rod Association president, with the sad news that the DHRA drag racing sanctioning body’s corporate sponsor that it had last season withdraw this year due to the downturn in the economy.

They thought they had a commitment from an oil company to replace the departing sponsor but, citing the economy, that company also withdrew. So the DHRA has closed it doors and will auction off its assets in February.

Apparently some racers have gotten together to stage events on the dates previously held by the DHRA.When we get more news we will pass it along. [1/21/2009]

Sign of the times..more to come Im sure. Economic down turns are the best times for companies to unload unnecessary costs and not look like bad guys.
