I am looking for a working ( this is the key word ) 4 BBL Carb for my "three-oh-fried" Monte that will not break the bank.  I have bought 2 off of Kijiji now and both need a rebuild.

Prefer a non-CCC Q-jet, but Edelbrock 1405 / 1406 or a Holley 650 or less would work as well I guess.  Anything bigger than that would drown the 305.

I am doing a 350 swap next winter so I just need something to help the Monte get off the CCC and thru the summer.  I have a good CCC Carb that I would be willing to trade if anyone is interested.

They are not too hard to rebuild. Just make sure you get the float level right.

yeah, I don't even think the tree-oh-fried would start with that much gas running thru it.  It would be like putting out the fire with gasoline !!

I really fucked this one up though.

So I cleaned up the carb, re-set the float, new check ball and whatever else was in the kit.  I was going to put it on and I realized that the carb I just rebuilt is for a car with manual trans as there is no "kickdown" portion to the throttle body.  I even knew that when I ordered the rebuild kit as the guy ran the serial number off the carb for me.  I feel like a real dummy sometimes.  I spent a good 3-4 hours cleaning that carb up and putting it back together.

I fingered out a workaround though with a piece of flatbar and some bolts with nylon insert nuts so I can hook the kickdown up.

Now I just have to get around to ditching the CCC system and dropping in the vacuum advance distributor and this carb to see how it runs.

CCC = PIA

Finally got the carb on and what a difference without the CCC.  Quicker throttle response and I can hear my secondaries opening now.  Too bad it's just a 305 because it sounds great but I am still getting nowhere fast !!!

Next up will be getting the 200R4 and 3.73 Posi rear off the shelf and into the car.  It only took me a month to get the carb and distributor in, maybe I get get those done by the time the snow flies and then I can get started on my 350 Roller Block.
